Yes, our Career Development Specialists and Employment Advisors are here to help provide personalized support and guidance to all students and alumni.

Does the Career Centre post jobs for students and if yes, where can I find them?
Yes we do! You can visit the Student Life Portal to see full time, part-time and volunteer opportunities.

How can I get a job through the Work Study program?
You can work on campus through the University Works program.
To learn more, log in to your MyOntarioTech account, and navigate to the Student Awards and Financial Aid tab to see information on the application process. The application is available in August for the school year and in March for summer positions.

How do I book an appointment with the Career Centre?
You can book an appointment with a Career Development Specialist by emailing careercentre@ontariotechu.ca.
You can book an employment advising appointment online by phone, in-person, or online via the Student Life Portal:

- In-person: Find us on the second floor of Shawenjigewining Hall (North campus location) or Charles Hall, Room 218 (downtown campus location).

Career development support and guidance
Career Development Specialists are here to support you holistically by offering guidance in career exploration, personal growth and professional development. Together, we'll assess your skills, interests and values to explore meaningful career paths that align with your long-term goals and well-being. We'll also discuss any barriers to employment that may apply to you—including disability, mental health challenges, or lack of experience—and empower you to navigate these obstacles.

Employment advising
Employment advisors are the technical job search experts. If you know what kind of career you are looking for but would like help with applying and where to look, visit an employment advisor. They can also help you find summer student employment. Visit an employment advisor for help with:

I am thinking about switching my major/program. Can you help?
Yes, we are happy to help you explore changing your major/program. Our career services provide guidance on career paths based on your skills, interests and values. You can book an appointment with a Career Development Specialist by emailing at careercentre@ontariotechu.ca, or by stopping by in-person at the north Oshawa or downtown Oshawa Student Life offices.

I need assistance with job searching. Where do I go?
We offer practice interviews. Log in to the Student Life Portal and set up a 30-minute appointment with an employment advisor. Please bring a copy of your resumé/cover letter and a copy of a job description (if you have one).

Where can I access career services at the downtown Oshawa campus location?
At the downtown Oshawa campus location, career services are located in the Student Life Suite in the Charles Hall Building, Room 218.

Will Career Services connect me directly with job opportunities/potential employers or set up an interview for me?
Our services are designed to support and guide you through each step of the employment searching process. We provide advice, strategies, and resources to help you become workplace ready. However, no, we are unable to connect you directly with employers or set up interviews.
