Peer Wellness Education Team
Peer Wellness Educators are current Ontario Tech students, responsible for advocating and educating their peers on a variety of health topics including emotional wellbeing, self-care, sleep, active living, food and nutrition, substance use, and sexual health.
This team develops and delivers workshops and displays, supports events, disseminates evidence-based information, and implements campaigns to promote health- and wellness-related resources available on and off campus.

Hafsah is a third-year student in the Biological Science program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because she wanted to advocate for student health and wellness on campus, recognizing that students often struggle the most. To maintain her wellness, Hafsah enjoys spending time with her family, traveling back home whenever she gets the chance and playing with her cat.
Jugeshwaran Supramaniam (he/him)
Jugeshwaran is a second year student in the BA(Hons), Psychology program. He joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because he wanted to be more involved around campus in a way that he felt matters and could make a difference in his fellow student's lives. Jugesh enjoys going to the gym and swimming in order to stay healthy.
Sharuya Mathavan (she/her)
Sharuya is a fourth-year student in the General Psychology program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because she wanted to get more involved on campus and advocate for the importance of wellness and mindfulness, as many post-secondary students forget the importance of taking care of themselves during the busy and stressful school year. Sharuya likes to go on nature walks and engage in de-stress activities, such as listening to music or journaling, to maintain her health and wellness.
Luciana Mastroianni-Mazzotta (she/her)
Luciana is a fourth-year Health Science student specializing in Human Health. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program to help support the health and wellness of the campus community and empower students to care for themselves. To maintain her own wellness, she enjoys taking walks, biking, going to the gym and even sneaking in quick daily 20-minute naps to recharge!
Wania Zafar (she/her)
Wania is a Medical Laboratory Science student with a passion for promoting student wellness. Through the Peer Wellness Education Program, she hopes to make health initiatives more engaging and accessible for everyone. In her free time, she loves going on walks year-round, reflecting through journaling and hosting events that connect people in a meaningful way.
Zahra Afzali (she/her)
Zahra is a third-year student in the Human Health Science program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because she loves learning about nutrition and exploring ways to make healthy, balanced choices even with a busy schedule. To maintain her own wellness, Zahra enjoys working out and taking yoga classes to unwind and destress.
Miranda Soares (she/her)
Miranda is a third-year student in the Forensic Science program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because she is passionate about educating her peers on health and wellness topics, and all the resources available to them. Miranda loves to dance, listen to music and go for walks. She also enjoys spending time with friends after stressful weeks.
Sabrina Hashimi (she/her)
Sabrina is a fourth-year Human Health Science student. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program to help other students learn simple, real-life ways to take care of their health and wellbeing without feeling overwhelmed. From her own experience she learned that taking care of yourself makes all the difference. In her free time, Sabrina enjoys taking walks and doing Pilates to maintain her health and balance.
Konner Yi (he/him)
Konner is a third-year student in the Computer Science program. He joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because being healthy impacted his life for the better, and he wanted to share his story with others to encourage them. Konner likes to work out at the gym or in his dorm between classes, making sure to do this several times a week!
Shariq Abdul-Wahid (he/him)
Shariq is a third-year student in the Networking & IT Security program. He joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because he's passionate about fostering a supportive campus environment where students feel empowered to prioritize their mental health and well-being. With a strong background in mentorship and student engagement, he believes wellness education is key to building resilient, inclusive communities. To maintain his own health and wellness, Shariq enjoys staying organized through digital planning tools, engaging in meaningful conversations with peers and balancing his academic and professional life with creative tech projects and campus involvement.
Gabby Pamy (she/her)
Gabby is a fourth-year student in the Human Health Science program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because she loves educating her peers on the benefits of prioritizing their health. Gabby likes to go to the gym, enjoy long walks and make water her drink of choice to maintain her health and wellness.
Darlene Joseph (she/her)
Darlene is a second-year Human Health Science student. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program to promote mental well-being and help students develop healthier habits and balanced lifestyles. Darlene maintains her own wellness by journaling, practicing mindfulness and following self-care routines that keep her grounded and motivated.
Brooke Belford (she/her)
Brooke is a third-year student in the Nursing program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program to help peers make healthy lifestyle changes. Brooke likes to workout3 to 5 times a week and enjoys going on runs.
Ilyas Mohammed (he/him)
Ilyas is a third-year student in the Nursing program. He joined the Peer Wellness Education Program as part of his clinical placement and hopes to promote balance and well-being among students through positive health practices. Ilyas likes to maintain discipline through fitness training as a way to support his wellness.
Jessica Yang (she/her)
Jessica is a third-year student in the Nursing program. She joined the Peer Wellness Education Program as part of her clinical placement and she hopes that through health promotion, she can encourage other students to make decisions beneficial to their well-being. Jessica likes to go to the gym as a way to maintain her health and wellness.
Josepha Edith Aba (she/her)
Josepha Edith Aba is currently a third-year student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Josepha Edith joined the Peer Wellness Education Program because she wants to help promote health and wellness on campus and inspire students to make healthy lifestyle choices. In her free time, Josepha enjoys going on trail hikes, connecting with nature, and practicing mindfulness to support her own well-being.
