What athletics facilities are on campus?
We're proud of our athletic facilities:

Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre: Home to the Flex fitness centre, five gymnasiums, fitness/dance studios, ETS North and the Varsity Academic Success Centre.

Campus Fieldhouse (indoor multi-sport turf field).

What is the Flex and where is it located?
The Flex is a 10,000 square foot fitness facility with cardio, resistance and accessory equipment. It is located on the second floor of the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre at the north campus location.
The Flex runs a variety of free and paid programming throughout the year, including:

Affordable personal training by CSEP Certified Personal Trainers.

Group fitness classes—offered in all semesters and free for students to attend.

Free yoga classes every Wednesday in July and August in Polonsky Commons.

What varsity sports are offered at Ontario Tech?
We're proud of our intercollegiate varsity programs. We have strong teams in a variety of both men’s and women’s sports, including:

How do I try out for a varsity sports team?
Tryout information for all of the Ridgeback varsity sport teams can be found on the Ridgebacks website. Please be aware that some tryout dates take place before the fall term begins.

What leagues and conferences do our varsity teams compete in?
Our first-class varsity programs compete annually in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U SPORTS.

Can I attend varsity events?
Yes! All home games are free for Ontario Tech students to attend with their student ID card. For additional rates and seasons pass information, please visit our ticketing information page.

What are extramurals and what sports are offered?
Extramurals provide the opportunity to compete in a higher level of sport, be a part of a competitive team, travel throughout Ontario to compete against other post-secondary institutions and to further develop sport-specific skills.
All extramural sports are a part of Ontario Collegiate Recreation (OCR) of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA).

- Mixed volleyball

What are intramurals and what sports are offered?
Intramurals are organized, student-based sporting leagues offered in a variety of sports and activities.
Sports include:
- Badminton
- Basketball
- Cricket
- Floorball hockey
- Ice hockey
- Pickleball
- Soccer
- Volleyball
Many sports are offered in a recreational and competitive division of play.

How and when do I register for intramurals?
You can register online by visiting the Ridgebacks intramurals web page. Once there, follow the intramural registration steps in the Recreation Portal. Registration takes place the first two weeks of September (for fall sports) and January (for winter sports) each year.
All participants must register and pay individually to confirm their spot in the league. Intramural team requests can be submitted online through the Recreation Portal—first-come, first-served. Free agent/individual players are welcome.

Drop-in programming provides the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and activities at your own leisure. Learn more about drop-in sports.
