What is Canvas?

Canvas is the university's Learning Management System. 

Why do I need to use Canvas?

Canvas allows you to:

  • Access content and assessments, important updates and announcements for courses.
  • Access student made videos on how to use specific online platforms.
  • Contact instructors or classmates via the messages tool or other communication tools.
  • Participate in discussion boards, group assignments, journals, blogs and wikis.

Digital Ucard and U-Pass

To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience on campus, the university requires all individuals to have a Ucard for identification and be able to access campus services such as: 

  • Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre
  • Exams
  • IT Services
How do I access my Ucard?

Why do I need it?

Your campus Ucard is not only a means of identification, but also serves as a key to accessing various university facilities. Your student ID card gives you access to essential facilities integral to your academic pursuits and personal development.

U-Pass (Universal Transit Pass)

Full-time students are eligible for unlimited travel each semester through Durham Region Transit. To learn more and access your U-Pass, visit the U-Pass web page

Each faculty and department have unique programs and requirements. Therefore, we recommend that you review the suggested devices and/or softwares specific to your program. For more information, please visit the bring your own device web page.
Once you have set up your network password, there are a few simple steps to establish a reliable and convenient wireless network connection. While you are on campus, connect to the CAMPUS-AIR wi-fi using your Banner ID and newtwork password. Follow the steps for your device if you require addititonal support.
